It has numerous very thick, straight stems covered in waxy, silver bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of huge, very thin, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are aquamarine on the sides and black at the center, flimsy and fuzzy.
In mid-spring it produces hundreds of tiny, green flowers with 7 V-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like pepper.
