Violet Spined Succulent

This small caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The asymmetrical stem is dark brown or violet, and is covered in handfuls of rigid bronze spines. The crooked, silver trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its dark brown or violet branches trail down across the ground and start growing at the top the stem.

The small bunches of smooth-edged, wide leaves are olive and bronze. They are delicate, and easily come away when pulled.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with each petal a slightly different shade of caramel grows at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 30 curved petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like baby powder.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the violet flesh is leathery, and the purple sap is thin.
