Copperberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 58 feet (17.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a flexible, twisting trunk covered in wrinkled, black bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is copper-coloured.

The small clumps of branches are very short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, circular leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in bronze, vivid red and muted yellow varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of small, vibrant blue blossoms with needle-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have no scent.

In late summer it produces , long, tapering fruit. The crispy amber skin is stretchy and sweet and sour, and the very soft black flesh is sweet and powdery. The beige seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.

It is slightly resistant to fire damage.
