Crimson Succulent

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized cactus grows up to 70 feet (21.3 meters) tall. It splits near the top to form 6 stiff, pointed stems. Each stem is red, and is covered in handfuls of rigid cream spines. The spherical body is yellow-green, and is covered in hundreds of flexible caramel spines.

It is quick growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with pink petals and an aquamarine central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 57 curved petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like fish.

The cactus's skin is thick, the green flesh is smooth, and the crimson sap is thin.

It is often home to a particular bird species.
