Bloodvine

This small caudiciform grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is pink-red, and is covered in brittle bright red spines. It has a straight, narrow, blood red trunk atop a slender clump of cracked, exposed roots. The branches are slender and amber and trail down across the ground.

The smooth-edged, very thin leaves are gold and turquoise. They are light, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is slow growing, taking 34 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of drab purple grow at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is made up of 48 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight trumpet. It has a powerful scent that smells like old shoes.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the grey flesh is sticky, and the silver sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
