Blueberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 51 feet (15.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 34 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, crooked trunk covered in silky, light brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale yellow.

The small bunches of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of small, very narrow and elongated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are red and lime.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, subtle green blossoms with circular petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like fresh linen.

In late summer it produces tiny, cuboid fruit. The sticky blue skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is savoury, and the soft slate flesh is sweet and powdery. The yellow seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
