Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its gray stems grow in bunches of 7 and are thick and straight, and the small, yellow leaves are spear shaped with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.
A single giant flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 11 cm (4.3 inches) wide, with petals that are either blood red or dark grey, with a yellow center. The flower head is made up of 7 petals in raised layers. They detach easily.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like a newborn baby, and it has lots of pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by some specific types of insect.
It can absorb up to 8 times its own weight in water.
