Chestnut Moss

This brown moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In heathlands, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is big, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is overwhelmingly resistant; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release dozens of spores.
