Aquamarine Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a stocky, crooked trunk covered in delicate, silky, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is light brown.
The sparse amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, pleated leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are dark grey and white.
In early spring, it produces lots of small, crimson blossoms with perforated petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like rich perfume.
In early summer it produces tiny, triangular fruit. The crispy hazel skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is spicy and savoury, and the slightly crunchy aquamarine flesh is salty and juicy. The grey seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
