Greyleaf Succulent

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall. The narrow stem is red, and is covered in many flexible sky blue spines. The serrated-edged, very thick leaves are solid grey with cyan edges. Copious amounts of them grow from the base in alternating layers of 2, then 4, then 6, and so on. The leaves are delicate, but detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 31 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with alternating petals of faded green and cream, with an amber central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 12 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like leather.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the peach flesh is rubbery, and the hazel sap is thin and can kill if consumed.
