Amberberry

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 200 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has several knobbly, wavy stems covered in paper-thin, rough, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches are short stubs with dozens of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of large, very thick, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either amber or grey, with bold orange splotches, sturdy and sticky.

In early summer it produces several tiny, pale purple blossoms with finger-like petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like cheese.

In early autumn pleated fruits ripen. The fuzzy crimson skin is peel-able and bland, and the crunchy blue flesh is very sour and very dry. The yellow seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It is bio-luminescent.
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
