Aquamarine

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, dark gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale yellow.

The branches are long and thick and are covered with thick bunches of huge, stiff, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are grey on the edges and peach at the center.

In early spring, it produces several tiny, gold blossoms with wide petals. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like blood.

In early winter it produces tiny, wide fruit. The crispy aquamarine skin is stretchy and sweet, and the very soft olive flesh is bitter and very juicy. The bronze seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
