Violetberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 62 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in thick, smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of huge, thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either purple, or azure with violet lines.

In early spring, it produces several tiny, lilac blossoms with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like coffee.

In early autumn it produces large, long, straight fruit. The rubbery silver skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft azure flesh is savoury and dry. The brown seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
