Burgundy Spearflower

This small flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is thick and splits into 3 branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the miniature, emerald leaves are spear shaped with jagged edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Many medium-sized flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with alternating petals of blue and caramel, with a beige central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 petals. They are very delicate.

It has a weak scent that smells like rotten egg, and it has an average amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by some specific types of insect.
