This brown moss is commonly found growing in large clumps In rainforests.
It is massive, growing up to 1.2 feet (36 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is extremely flexible.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release hundred of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
