Crimson Vine

This modest-sized flower grows up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) tall. Its red stem is very thin and straight, and the tiny, lime green leaves are wispy with toothed edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

1 to 5 tiny flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 21 cm (8.3 inches) wide, with petals that are red at the sides and crimson at the center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 petals. They are hardy.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like petrol, and it has excessive amounts of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
