Crimson Succulent

This short cactus grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. It splits at the base to form 6 very thick stems. Each stem is red, and is covered in handfuls of rigid muted purple spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with sky blue petals and a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with 52 raised round-tipped petals. It has an intense scent that smells like candle wax.

The cactus's skin is thick, the amber flesh is rubbery, and the blood red sap is thin.
