Copperwood

This large tree grows up to 79 meters (259.2 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 560 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in thin, wrinkled, brown-green bark, and inside, the very light wood is copper-coloured.

The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with very large amounts of clammy, huge, 3 pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are olive on the sides and sky blue at the center.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of giant, dark orange blossoms with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like pine needles.

In late summer it forms small, light yellow seed pods.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
