Copper Starflower

This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its pink-red stem is thick, and the miniature, moss green leaves are very narrow and elongated with ripped edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 4 to 8 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with copper petals that gradient shift to subtle red on the outer edge. The central disk is amber. The flower head is shaped like a star with 56 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a strong scent that smells like soap, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.
