Bluebell

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its silver stem is wispy and splits into numerous branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the small, yellow and dark brown leaves are finger-like with irregular edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 13 cm (5.1 inches) wide, with petals that are sky blue on the underside and blue on the top. The flower head is made up of 21 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight trumpet. They are very delicate.

It has a strong scent that smells like glue, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a variety of insects.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
