Copperfruit

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, angular trunk covered in knobbly, gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is gray.

The sparse amount of branches are very long and thick and are covered with handfuls of small, circular leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in copper and white varieties.

In early spring, it produces lots of small, brown blossoms with cylindrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like meat.

In early summer it produces small, broad, flat fruit. The leathery deep orange skin is tough and edible when boiled; it is sweet and spicy, and the slightly crunchy lime flesh is salty and very juicy. The silver seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
