Copper

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its copper stem is thin, and the huge, gray-green leaves are fan-like with tattered edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Each stem splits 4 to 8 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, with lilac petals on the lower layer and yellow petals decorated with peach dots on the inner layer. The central disk is peach. The flower head is largely flat with 36 raised round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a weak scent that smells like mint, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to bees.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
