Copperfruit Tree

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 70 feet (21.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 22 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in delicate, waxy, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is light brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of huge, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are peach on the sides and blood red at the center.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of large, orange blossoms with 9 cylindrical shaped petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like leather.

In early autumn it produces tiny, cuboid fruit. The rough copper skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft peach flesh is sweet and oily. The hazel seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
