Blueberry Bush

This enormous shrub grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for around 32 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many sturdy, straight stems covered in rough, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches are long and slender that and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, pleated, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are generally white, resilient and leathery.

In late spring it produces several small, intense blue blossoms with needle-like petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like grass cuttings.

In early winter needle-like fruits ripen. The hairy peach skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft magenta flesh is savoury and juicy. The florescent red seeds are tiny and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
