Bluebell

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 2.0 feet (61 cm) tall. Its brilliant blue stem is thick, and the small, green leaves are heart-shaped with rounded edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 3 to 6 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with solid olive petals decorated with yellow dots and a beige central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 57 curved petals. They are hardy.

It has a powerful scent that smells like warm milk, and it has very little pollen, but can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.
