Copperleaf

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This small flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its copper or violet stems grow in bunches of 3 and are wispy and straight, and the huge, yellow-green leaves are thick with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Many large flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with petals that are sky blue on the edges and pastel red at the center. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of 14 tightly layered, narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like lavender, and it has lots of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
The grass is spicy and slightly toxic and while grains are salty and non-toxic.
