Caramel

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. The thin stem is yellow-green, and is covered in many fine, brown, hair-like spines. The thick, gnarled, black trunk can grow to as much as 7 feet (2.1 meters) in diameter. Its lime green branches are short, rigid and upright.

The smooth-edged, broad, flat leaves are light red on the edges and olive at the center. They are flimsy, but take little effort to detach.

It is very fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with caramel petals and a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of many tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like chocolate.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the washed-out green flesh is soft, and the slate sap is thin.

It is suitable for making strong rope
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
