Breadflower Bush

This big shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for around 22 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many flexible, slanted stems covered in paper-thin, cracked, light gray bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are very short and thick that and are covered with copious amounts of huge, circular, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either copper, or blood red with peach lines, frail and covered in fine hairs.

It produces thousands of medium-sized, pink flowers with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like freshly baked bread. In late winter it forms smallhazel, spiky-shelled seeds.
