Azureberry Tree

This large fruit tree grows up to 27 feet (8.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in very thick, ridged, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of miniature, slender, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are azure and light brown.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of small, turquoise blossoms with 3 pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like something putrid.

In mid-autumn it produces , paw-shaped fruit. The fuzzy blue skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is sweet and spicy, and the slightly crunchy azure flesh is sweet and juicy. The light grey seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
