Aquamarine Fireflower

This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its emerald stems grow in bunches of 5 and are wispy and straight, and the huge, gray-green leaves are perforated with smooth edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Dozens of large flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with blue petals that gradient shift to aquamarine on the outer edge. The central disk is gold. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 35 petals. They are sturdy.

It has a weak scent that smells like bonfire smoke, and it has lots of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
