Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Evergreen - keeps its leaves all year round)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 72 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, wavy trunk covered in fine, waxy, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is silver.

The small handful of branches are very long and thick and are covered with thick bunches of large, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are yellow with sky blue tips.

In early spring, it produces many tiny, sky blue blossoms with wide petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like musk.

In early winter it produces tiny, oval fruit. The sticky black skin is thin and salty, and the slightly crunchy blood red flesh is savoury and dry. The washed-out green seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
