Mahogany

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 643 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, curved trunk covered in delicate, waxy, black bark, and inside, the flexible wood is mahogany-coloured.

The small bunches of branches are long and slender and are covered with copious amounts of sticky, tiny, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are silver and red.

In late summer it forms giant, subtle red, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It comes in 29 varieties.
It is frequently struck by lightning.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
