Copperfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 25 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, twisting trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is burgundy-brown.

The thick clumps of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of giant, perforated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are copper with olive tips.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of giant, slate blossoms with V-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a faint scent that smells like vanilla.

In early autumn it produces , wide fruit. The rough amber skin is tough and sweet and spicy, and the very soft sky blue flesh is sweet and very juicy. The black seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
