Orangevine

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, yellow bark, and inside, the soft wood is pine-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches are long and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, pleated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid orange or washed-out orange, with cyan patches.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of giant, blue blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like apple.

In early winter it produces small, long, tapering fruit. The waxy deep yellow skin is thick and inedible, and the slightly crunchy brown flesh is sour and dry. The slate seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
