Bloodtail grass

Grass type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small, gray-green grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The fan-like stalks grow in extensive patches that are sturdy and flexible and they are slow to spread and grow.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a medium-sized, blood red tail.

During the late autumn, it produces copious amounts of pollen, and after flowering, it is left with lots of giant grains.

The leaves are high in natural sugars.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
