Silver Bark Tree

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 174 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, angular trunk covered in delicate, rough, silver bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.

The tangled mess of branches are long and slender and are covered with small bunches of leathery, miniature, 3 pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are dark brown with drab blue tips.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, purple blossoms with wide petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like rotten eggs.

In late summer it forms tiny, black seed pods.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
