Magenta

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 30 feet (9.1 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 6 sickle shaped stems. Each stem is grey or magenta, and is covered in lots of flexible hazel spines. The tear-shaped body is gray, and is covered in lots of flexible hazel spines.

It is quick growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with cream petals and a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with 34 tightly layered round-tipped petals. It has an intense scent that smells like rotten eggs.

The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the blue flesh is sticky, and the dark purple sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
