Trailbloom Lime

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in fine, rough, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with copious amounts of large, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are red and bronze.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of giant, lime blossoms with spear shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like warm cookies.

In mid-autumn it produces small, stiff, pointed fruit. The rough violet skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy lime flesh is sweet and dry. The silver seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
