Brownspike

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its brown stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 6 and are very thick and straight, and split into dozens of branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the large, moss green leaves are thin with tattered edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 5 to 9 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 9 cm (3.5 inches) wide, with petals that are generally white; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 40 curved petals. They are very delicate.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like lemon, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
