Silverberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in very thick, silky, brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is white.

The numerous branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of giant, asymmetrical leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are cream at the bottom and silver with florescent green streaks at the top.

In early spring, it produces balls of giant, beige blossoms with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like mint.

In early winter it produces tiny, oblong fruit. The hairy florescent green skin is delicate and sweet and bitter, and the soft pink flesh is sweet and spicy and dry. The cream seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is slightly resistant to fire damage.
