Aquamarine Spiralvine

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its brown stem is wispy, and the large, aquamarine leaves are perforated with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Two large flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with solid faded purple petals decorated with magenta lines and a sky blue central disk. The flower head is made up of many petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. They are hardy.

It has a weak scent that smells like honeysuckle, and it has very little pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
