Sunset Glow

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The narrow stem is green, and is covered in lots of fine, grey, hair-like spines. The straight, silver trunk can grow to as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter in the middle. Its gray-green branches are short, rigid and upright and start growing three quarters of the way up the stem.

The very large amounts of tattered-edged, broad, flat leaves are orange on the edges and cream at the center. They are flimsy, but do not detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 6 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with copper petals on the lower layer and hazel petals decorated with silver dots on the inner layer. The central disk is violet, grow at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 39 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. It has a weak scent that smells like new carpet.

The caudiciform's skin is tough, the cream flesh is smooth, and the purple sap is thin.
