Azureberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 60 feet (18.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 51 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, wavy trunk covered in thin, rough, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is white with black speckles.

The tangled mess of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, pleated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are generally copper.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, intense blue blossoms with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have no scent.

In early autumn it produces tiny, oblong fruit. The sticky lilac skin is peel-able and bitter and salty, and the very soft azure flesh is sweet and very juicy. The orange seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for making strong rope
