Orangevine

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) tall. Its orange stems grow in bunches of 8 and are thin and straight, and the large, lime green leaves are long, tapering with jagged edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Each stem splits 6 to 12 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 17 cm (6.7 inches) wide, with petals that are either light brown or crimson, with a yellow center. The flower head is largely flat with 5 tightly layered round-tipped petals. They detach easily.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like bleach, and it has excessive amounts of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to butterflies.
