Copperberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in smooth, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale yellow.

The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of small, slender, pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are copper and violet.

In early spring, it produces dozens of medium-sized, lime blossoms with circular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like onion.

In late summer it produces , circular fruit. The crispy indigo skin is stretchy and sour, and the slightly crunchy magenta flesh is sweet and salty and juicy. The silver seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
