Caramel Petal Flower

This modest-sized flower grows up to 11 inches (28 cm) tall. Its sky blue stem is thin and straight, and the large, olive and caramel leaves are stiff, pointed with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Each stem splits 1 to 3 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 25 cm (9.8 inches) wide, with petals that are caramel on the underside and black on the top. The flower head is made up of 10 petals in raised layers. They fall easily.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like rotting meat, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind and is ignored by most insect species.
