Copperwing

This small flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its gray stem is very thick, and the giant, copper leaves are wispy with rounded edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

4 to 10 large flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with petals that are red in the center, slate in the middle and slate at the edges. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 curved petals. They detach easily.

It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like leather, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by some specific types of insect.
