Burgundy Willow
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 11 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has numerous narrow, angular stems covered in delicate, smooth, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.
The branches are short, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of large, teardrop-shaped, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are hazel on the sides and violet at the center, rigid and waxy.
In late spring it produces handfuls of medium-sized, dark brown flowers with broad, flat petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like warm cookies.
