Blackberry
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This big fruit tree grows up to 37 feet (11.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a long and flexible, curved trunk covered in delicate, smooth, brown-green bark, and inside, the dense wood is silver.
The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of giant, 6 pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are black and amber.
In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, azure blossoms with 7 shield-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like soap.
In early winter it produces , perforated fruit. The hairy sky blue skin is tough and inedible, and the slightly crunchy magenta flesh is sweet and salty and oily. The caramel seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
