Copperberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, wonky trunk covered in delicate, cracked, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the hard wood is white.

The excessive amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of miniature, crescent-shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are dark grey and turquoise.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of giant, copper blossoms with finger-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like marzipan.

In late autumn it produces , oval fruit. The leathery cyan skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy grey flesh is spicy and salty and very juicy. The black seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for making paper
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
